From April - June 2020, I interned at Western Washington University's Office of Communications and Marketing in Bellingham, Washington. As part of my internship, I wrote stories for Western Today, a primary source of information for Western's staff, faculty and students. I primarily wrote feature stories about the accomplishments of WWU's faculty and staff, as well as feature stories about student life during the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 Changes Teaching

With K-12 and higher education classrooms on hiatus due to COVID-19, students are having to adapt to online learning. As students try to find the best way to learn virtually, professors and teachers are having to adapt and find new ways to connect with their students.

Creators Collide

A team of students in Western’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation program are putting on a virtual collaboration event, “Creators Collide,” to show that you can still connect and meet new people while learning remotely.

DormCraft

DormCraft, a WWU-dedicated Minecraft and Discord server made by students, for students, is providing an online escape and creating a friendly community for the WWU community

CASAS

CASAS, a confidential support service for Western students who have been affected by relationship violence, sexual violence, stalking, harassment and other forms of violence, either recently or in the past, continues to provide services during the COVID-19 pandemic

AS Podcast

The Associated Students of Western Washington University's launched a new podcast 'Tripping on Bricks' on April 30, 2020, featuring stories by and about students.

Golden Apple

Western Washington University's Anne Marie Tietjen was announced to receive the
Health Volunteers Overseas' Golden Apple Award for 2020.
